Hello loves! I'm so sorry for my delay with this post but I finally managed to do it so here it is the review for the Winter Finale - By the Light of Dawn - and by the title I could guess what was going to happen - kind of.
*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS*
Simon was taken by Valentine in the end of the last episode so now Clary has to save him. I was so excited with this! I was like - Yes, please! Make the book come to life! Make him need blood! (you may think I'm being dramatic but it's for a good reason).
We see Alec and other shadowhunters in the Institute preparing themselves to fight Valentine and then little Madzie shows up. She took Alec out of the way with her power and then killed the other shadowhunters that were there. Yes, you've read it right: SHE killed them, but not with normal warlock power but with her warlock mark. Her warlock mark! I think warlock marks are just that, warlock marks but it's okay.
Clace hug! Jace was so cute and the hug was so cute, temporary but eternally cute.
And that moment when Valentine contacted Clary I could't help my laugh because all I could think was "Wow, Valentine knows how to use videochat!".

Clary and Jace tell Magnus about the angel's vision and Magnus wants to see it and when he does he sayst that angels speak throught metaphors and that that star was the Morning Star SOOOO we think "Morgenstern" and after that he says that Demonic Morgenstern can destroy the sword SOOOO Sebastian! SEBASTIAN IS COMING! I was so happy when Magnus said "Demonic Morgenstern" because I knew what it meant! Finally, I can't wait to see Sebastian in action.
About Raphael and Izzy and their unhealthy relationship... What Raphael did in this episode was really bad!
Alec is alone in the Institute fighting Valentine's people and then Aldertree shows up and help him and I still can't trust him.
So Valentine uses videochat again to cut Simon in front of Clary and even though I knew that would't kill him it still hurt in my soul! Don't hurt Simon!
I really liked the way Jace put his hand on his Parabatai rune when he was in the car with Luke. I always love when the Parabatai bound is mentioned.
Then Maia shows up really mad with Luke and tries to attack him. By the Angel, Maia, just seat your ass down and chill. You can't be always trying to kill everybody. First Jace, then Clary and now Luke? I like you but you need to calm down.
Then this scene with Aldertree and Alec, where Aldertree tells Alec his love story with a Downworlder and why this type of relationship never works and I was just like: MALEC WILL WORK DON'T WORRY! His love story didn't touched me anyway, for some reason.
That part when all the Downworlders meet to fight Valentine and I'm all excited but also thinking about the boat where this war is suppose to be. After all I was really happy to see all the Downworlders together.
Clary enters the Institute and is "welcomed" by her father. She wants to see Simon and he is almost dead (at least as dead as a vampire can possibly be) so she has to give him some of her blood. I SCREAMED. I was so mad and sreaming "NO! You can't do that to me! Stop right there! I don't mind you change things from the books but this is crucial! Stop!" and then Clary wasn't Clary. Clary was Jace. Jace used the shape-shifting rune! It was Jace all the time! I was so happy! It was the first time that I actually liked that freaking rune! YES!
But I guess Valentine wouldn't let himself believe in such a thing twice, would he?
Magnus finds Madzie and he kind helps her understand that Valentine is the bad guy, and that he is a warlock too. This scene make me think about Magnus as a father. This scene is when you're sure that Magnus would be a great dad.
Jace and Simon are running from Valentine and they're kind of a team now. I always find it so hilarious when Jace and Simon have to work together!
"Good moves" and Simon says something like "Oh thank you! I've been practicing!".
And when Simon said that if Valentine hadn't stop him from drinking Jace's blood he would've kill him and Jace says "And I would've let you"...It was beautiful!
Alec and Aldertree are in trouble, surrounded by Valentine's people and then ISABELLE SHOWS UP with her whip and she saves them and for a moment I believe that badass Izzy is back and then she kinda fades in Alec's arms. Aldertree looks worried at her, like REALLY worried because he knows is his fault and I start to believe that maybe he has a heart.
The next scenes happen all really fast! Clary is in trouble and Simon saves her, he was amazing! "Good moves"! Then Jace is ready to sacrifice himself but the sword is not destroyed but starts to get all crazy and kills all the Downworlders inside and all of that was a trap by Valentine. (Don't try to blind him with the shape-shifting rune again, it worked once, it won't happen again).
But I loved that all of the story he made Jace believe about himself was all a trap, just to activate the sword.
They fight and Valentine tells him everything! Including the fact that Jace and Clary are not siblings and then Jace beats Valentine and it's an amazing fight.
Clary creates a new rune in this episode! This gets me really excited because it's so important and I'm so glad the show has it.
WARNING: Very emotional Malec scene. They say "I love you" to each other and Alec was so worried and afraid that he would lose Magnus. It was so cute and their chemistry is getting better.
Rizzy is over people, now I can sleep in peace.
Now that Jace knows the truth he can finally be with Clary, and he talks about that with Alec. More Parabatai feels for me!
In the end of the episode Simon is a Daylighter. He is finally a Daylighter! You know what that means? Somebody doesn't have demon blood! But let's celebrate because SIMON IS A DAYLIGHTER NOW!
And he tells Clary, and they have this happy moment but it was so sad seeing Jace in the background, ready to tell Clary they aren't brother and sister (perhaps kiss her) but he sees this and decides not to tell anything.
P.S.: The fact that the Institute is all modern and technologic still bothers me.
The next episode is only in June but I'm so excited right now! I can't wait!
